Guadeloupe

The production of rum has always been part of the tradition of Guadeloupe. Here too, as in the other Caribbean islands, there are 2 types of rum produced: agricultural rum which is obtained from sugar cane juice, and industrial rum , also called traditional rum, which comes from molasses, a residue from the manufacture of sugar. If the number of distilleries, and consequently the production of rum, has greatly decreased over time, Guadeloupe maintains its reputation as a quality producer thanks to the 9 distilleries scattered throughout the area. If aged rum, so appreciated by experts, can be savored pure as a digestive, white rum on the other hand is ideal for making extraordinary cocktails, or in the kitchen to perfume some dishes such as desserts, crêpes or for flambéed bananas.
