The Meursault Blagny 1er Cru of the Domaine Pierre Matrot winery is an extraordinary white wine, obtained from 100% Chardonnay grapes in the main territory of the production of this type of wine: Chablis and the very suitable surrounding areas. More specifically, the Matrot family, now led by Thierre Matrot, has been cultivating vineyards for four generations in the municipalities of Monthelie, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Auxey-Duresses. "Premier Cru" is one of the classifications that can be recognized to a specific producer, vineyard or geographical area and literally means "first choice" and is the highest classification achievable by a French wine. It should be added that since 2000 the Domaine Pierre Matrot winery has decided to convert all its crops to the organic method. The Meursault Blagny 1er Cru is left to refine in barriques for a maximum period of three years. The result is such a complex wine that it would not be risky to decant this bottle half an hour beforehand, after having opened it. The minerality and structure that the "terroir" gives it, gives it a longevity unthinkable for "normal" white wines. The Meursault Blagny 1er Cru of Domaine Matrot enjoys a truly unique personality and character. It is a wine that you will not soon forget.
