Starting from the main vine of the area, i.e. Barbera, Mongovone can be defined as a true and proper Cru (selected and excellent area or vineyard). The grapes come from a vineyard planted in 1932 in the Municipality of Isola d'Asti, right in the Mongovone hamlet with southern exposure. The Perrone family bought this vineyard in 2000. The Barbera grape is usually harvested in the month of October, with the use of small baskets to keep the surface of the grapes intact and to keep the grapes fresh. After crushing and destemming, the must ferments in steel tanks at a controlled temperature. The wine is then aged for 12 months in small new French oak barrels, until bottling which takes place 2 years after the harvest. An important, sumptuous wine with impressive drinking capacity for such an important wine. Typical acidity of the vine modulated by the wood, harmonic and balanced. Wine capable of a very long life. Excellent!
