This fine distillate comes from the Speyside region and precisely from the Glen Spey distillery, which is still active. Distilled in 1995, it is then aged in ex-Bourbon oak barrels and bottled by Gordon & Macphail in 2016. As with nearby Glen Grant, the Glen Spey stills feature a purifier, a system that allows the backflow into the still of the first vapors that manage to escape, and this in order to obtain a lighter spirit. The color is light gold. Elegant and versatile, with notes of ripe banana, pear and pineapple infused with vanilla and topped with hints of crème brûlée. Jasmine emerges, highlighted by velvety notes of chocolate. Warm notes of chilli followed by ripe oak, strawberries and raspberries glazed with white chocolate, all balanced by subtle herbaceous elements. The finish is sweet and delicate, notes of pear and ripe banana leave room for hints of oak. Complex!
