    Merlot

Here is another excellent representative of the family of so-called "international vines", i.e. grapes of French origin, but spread all over the world thanks to their versatility. The first approach with Italy, for Merlot , is to be indicated at the end of the 1800s, with its main diffusion in Veneto and Friuli VG and this is why many, thanks to the final T which recalls a Venetian name, mistakenly believe it to be a vine indigenous to the North-East. Instead, it is originally from Bordeaux where it is often paired with Cabernet Sauvignon in the so-called "Bordeaux cut" giving life to extraordinary labels: the two vines integrate perfectly: the first giving the wine its full and ripe fruit, the second, more tannic , greater structure, strength and longevity. The organoleptic characteristics are typical and, precisely, in the glass we find it of an intense ruby color with a warm, fruity, rightly tannic, full-bodied palate. It is a grape that adapts well to any type of cultivation, therefore we find it the protagonist, both in purity and in blends, of very commercial labels, such as very prestigious wines; we have a shining example of this in Tuscany, in the Bolgheri area.
