Cantina Ponte was founded immediately after the war (1948) by a group of winemakers in the north of Veneto, in the area between Venice and the banks of the Piave river, between the provinces of Venice and Treviso. The company, founded in the form of a cooperative, has managed to become a point of reference for many of the producers who have vineyards in the North-East of Italy; currently it has around 1200 members and around 2,000 hectares of land cultivated with vines with both native and international varieties. The vines are Glera, Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay and Cabernet whose cultivations have a global extension starting from the north of Venice and reaching the foothills of the province of Treviso. Given the vastness of the territory, there are 5 wineries (Vedelago, Villorba, Caposile, Eraclea and Ponte di Piave) which take their name from the localities in which they are located and in the specific one of Ponte di Piave the Deseo wine is produced. The emblematic wine is undoubtedly the Prosecco DOC produced entirely using the Charmat method, from an indigenous vine (Glera) in an area between the north of the Piave and Treviso.
