Vermentino

The latest researches state that this vine, symbol of Sardinia (it is the most cultivated grape on the island), and of Liguria is actually originally from Spain, brought by the Aragonese. It then spread to France, very much in Corsica and then in Tuscany and Elba Island, where it acquired typical characteristics of the local area. However, we can say that the preferred areas are undoubtedly Gallura (northeast of Sardinia) and the Colli di Luni, a valuable restricted area on the border between Liguria and Tuscany . Vermentino has unique characteristics in the panorama of Italian white wines: it has its own recognizable sapidity and minerality, typical of wines that are born near the sea; on the nose it is easy to recognize notes of aromatic herbs and Mediterranean scrub, while the taste is characterized by a fresh and intriguing sip. In any case, each area interprets it in a different way, also in relation to the climate and the terrain, therefore with different and truly stimulating results: all to be discovered!
