Biava

The Biava winery was born in Scanzorosciate, a municipality in the province of Bergamo. Famous for its Moscato di Scanzo, this small but important Lombard production company founded by Gino Biava is currently led by his nephews Manuele, Silvio and Diego. The three, following the teachings of their ancestor, who worked in the company until the venerable age of 96, guide the entire property with the highest respect for the teachings of their grandfather, the great standard-bearer of local winemaking traditions. The Biava winery was founded in 1988 by Manuele. The structure is particularly suitable for hosting labels for aging, within its walls it is possible to discover special reserves and old Moscati di Scanzo. This Moscato is precisely the company's oenological pearl. The vine planted in the Bergamo area by the Roman settlers meets one of its greatest expressions with the Biava. The cellar also houses a drying room, where the Moscato di Scanzo grapes are left to rest. The entire company activity is aimed at safeguarding and respecting the ecosystem. The Biava vineyards extend for 3 hectares and enjoy excellent exposure to the sun. The mild climate and the terroir characterized by the Sas de Luna limestone are the main elements that allow the winery to produce wines with unique organoleptic qualities. Among the vines grown at 400 meters above sea level, in addition to the famous Moscato di Scanzo, the Biava company has also given space to international vines such as Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Following a philosophy focused above all on the production of high quality labels, the yields of the vineyard are kept deliberately low in order to benefit the concentration of perfumes and aromas. What also makes the difference is the work carried out between the rows, which is carried out with great responsibility, without using herbicides and fertilizers of chemical origin. Although the small Biava winery has a very limited production of wines, its name is at the top of "made in Italy" wine production. Flying high above all are the Ghibellino, Giallo and Guelfo labels.
