GINI

Information
Region: Veneto (Italian wines)

The history of the Gini family and their passion for viticulture is truly ancient: in fact, the first documents that testify to the family's ownership of the land in the Contrada Salvarenza area date back to 1600. Now it is the brothers Sandro and Claudio, sons of Olinto Gini, born in 1929, a great winemaker and founding father of the "modern" history of the winery, who carry on the family tradition. There are two areas in particular in which the family vineyards are grown: the Soave area and the Valpolicella DOC area. These are 50 hectares of vineyards located between the lands of Monteforte and Campiano, a unique viticultural heritage, the result of the centuries-old history of the Gini family who has not uprooted any land while keeping alive even the oldest plants, more than a century old. Furthermore, the Gini Agricultural Company has recently obtained organic certification . Specifically, it is in the Soave area that the oldest and most native vines of these lands are cultivated, the Garganega vineyards are around 80 years old and there are also non-grafted plants that date back to the end of the nineteenth century and grow on these calcareous or volcanic tuff. It is from here that the white wines are born, suitable for long aging in the beautiful cellar, also dug into the volcanic tuff, and which houses a barrique cellar of fine wines. On the hills of Valpolicella, vineyards of a more international character are cultivated, such as Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. There are many wines offered by the Gini family, although Soave Classico is certainly the one that has made the family's wines most famous and which this year was awarded the Crown of Vini Buoni d'Italia.
