Flechas de Los Andes

Flechas de Los Andes
Information
Region: Argentina

The Flechas de los Andes winery was born from the collaboration of Baron Edmond of Rothschild and Laurent Dassault. The company is located in Clos de los Siete, in the town of Vista Flores, south of Mendoza, Argentina. Here the ancient French winemaking tradition coexists with a modern and innovative vision of wine, all South American in style. Since 1999, 119 hectares of vineyards have been planted on the property. The land is located in an enviable position, exposed to the sun and mitigated by the winds, over 1000 meters above sea level (!), at the foot of the Cordon del Plata mountains. The soil is of alluvial origin, rich in debris and clay. Both families, Dassault and Rothschild, are established winemakers in the Bordeaux area. In this adventure they have put the experience gained with their respective companies, the passion for wine and respect for the land. The first harvest was carried out in 2004. The vineyards are planted with Malbec grapes and partly Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah. Malbec was introduced in Argentina in 1868, it is a dark and intense grape of Bordeaux origin; the variant planted in Argentina is softer and less tannic than the French one. The wines age in French oak barrels. Great producers, great wines!
