Grosjean

The Grosjean winery has for years been committed to the organic cultivation of high quality grapes, following the example of grandfather Douphin who had already eliminated the use of pesticides and acaricides to preserve not only his production, but the entire territory. A generous territory, that of Ollignan in the Aosta Valley, but certainly not easy and which, to produce its fruits, requires constant work and dedication. All the love for this land has been handed down from generation to generation, from the end of the 1700s to the present day, and now the company can count on 16 hectares of vineyards and a cellar totally renovated in 2000 and which includes the use of energy green, thanks to modern photovoltaic systems that guarantee a low environmental impact. Furthermore, in 2011, Grosjean obtained organic certification and since 2015 wine production has stood at 120,000 bottles per year. The Rovettaz vineyard, after a long period of work to tear the land away from the brambles and woods that had covered it, has regained its rightful importance and has become the most important winemaking site of the company, with its 5.5 hectares . It is located about 500 m above sea level and faces south, so as to be able to count on good brightness and a strong temperature range which favors the ripening of the grapes, giving particular aromas and scents. Furthermore, the area is constantly hit by the Fohn winds which prevent the proliferation of mushrooms and is suitable for the cultivation of Petit Rouge, Petit Arvine and Fumin. In small areas, however, native vines such as Cornalin are produced. A heroic viticulture, without a doubt, given the impervious territory, the mountain climate and the certainly parsimonious productivity of the land.
