Tenuta Hortense

The brothers Corrado and Marcello Fratini founded the well-known Tenuta Argentiera winery in 1999, which was then sold in 2016. With the experience gained, the two brothers launched a new project which today is called "Tenuta Hortense", consisting of 1100 hectares in total, of which 10 are planted with vineyards: the panorama is always that of Bolgheri, one of the new areas in Italy most suited to viticulture, where the typical grapes of the Bordeaux area are grown among the rows of cypresses of Tenuta Hortense, which are now be absolutely successful in this area (Sassicaia, Ornellaia, Masseto, etc. are born here); precisely, the cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon and merlot vines. With a vast estate available, the choice of the 10 hectares of vineyards was not at all random, but rather considered thanks also to the help of expert consultants such as Eric Boissenot, collaborator of important Bordeaux chateaux (Lafite-Rothschild, Margaux and Mouton-Rothschild , etc) and Emiliano Falsini, consultant for important Italian companies in the Barolo and Etna areas. Between the rows nothing has been left to chance, therefore with the utmost respect for the environment, nature, ecosystem and biodiversity, the individual vineyards can enjoy cutting-edge irrigation systems and every single vine is followed with extreme attention. The entire winemaking process must be as natural as possible. An example of this is Fratini, a super wine made from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes, with a small percentage of Merlot and Cabernet Franc. It ferments using only indigenous yeasts and is left to rest for at least 18 months in oak tonneaus. It is as powerful as it is elegant: it is an excellence of the Bolgheri area. With this philosophy, labels are born capable of reaching the highest levels of quality: wines that tell all about the extraordinary excellence of the Bolgheri area.
