Ardnamurchan Distillery is a Scottish distillery founded in 2013 with the aim of creating and producing highly prestigious and classy whiskeys on a world level . Its name, which in Gaelic means "promontory of the great seas", derives from that of a peninsula located in the north-west of Scotland, recognized as the westernmost point of the mainland of the United Kingdom and rich in spectacular landscapes and large biodiversity, both faunal and floral. Precisely for this particular and unique environment, Ardnamurchan Distillery has chosen to use only the best technologies with the lowest possible environmental impact, drawing the energy necessary for production from clean and renewable sources and recycling processing waste to feed the animals present on the peninsula ; after all, whiskey is an ancient and natural product and what better way to create it than by respecting the nature of the area itself ? The distillery produces "West Highland" whiskey of two categories: peated and unpeated. The first distillation took place in 2014 and was released on the market under the name "Ardnamurchan 2016/AD", without being able to present the word whiskey on the label due to too short aging, but, despite this, it sold out in very short time, given the curiosity created among fans of the genre. As of 2020, a total of 10,000 barrels of whiskey have been declared produced, some of which were given to children in the area as a " financial" investment for their future and as a further symbol of care for their native territory. Ardnamurchan is also the first Scottish distillery to use "blockchain" technology to provide total traceability of the production line, from the fields to the bottle, which can be used via the QR code on the label. A further testimony to the broad vision that the founders have regarding the long-term objectives and projects of this splendid artisan reality.
