Podere Sequerciani, some time ago, was owned by the Marquis Barabesi Bourbon di Pitrella and is located on the top of a hill, in the south of the Maremma, surrounded by vineyards, vegetable gardens and olive groves. Here the view is spectacular and opens onto the woods and, beyond the sea, to the Island of Giglio. The current owner, the Swiss director Ruedi Gerber, fell in love with these splendid places and this marvelous estate about thirty years ago, deciding to invest capital, time and energy to revive a reality defined by himself as 'a sleeping beauty '. Gerber has encouraged the valorization and sharing of this place through wine production, applying a very precise philosophy of thought and action: working the land and its fruits in the most natural and direct way possible to produce a wine that respects nature and responds to the characteristics of the local terroir. Gerber says: «The philosophy centered on the place has always existed and is the engine that drives all our work forward" However, the moment that sanctioned the implementation of a truly precise and methodical working method in the cellar was the realization of the 'Sequerciani 2020' project, which led to the creation of a real business strategy, namely production, marketing, sales and communication, with a very precise common thread, namely the concept of the link between the place and the man. The result is the creation of natural wines, the rediscovery of endangered native vines and the application according to biodynamic principles. Rare wines which, unfiltered, well reflect the Sequerciani terroir. Manual harvests, spontaneous fermentations with yeasts deriving from the skins. No synthetic chemical substances. Each wine tells a story: of the grapes, of the territory, of the people who take care of them. The refinement techniques are also differentiated: some wines mature in terracotta amphorae, a small part matures in wooden barrels. Sometimes blends are performed. The intervention is limited to observation and respect for the times of nature: nothing is added and nothing is taken away. Wines with a strong and personal character.
