Borgo Scopeto is a real estate, it is located in Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the province of Siena and covers a very large area planted with vines, over 70 hectares, at an altitude between 350 and 420 metres. Overall, it is a medieval village, completely renovated with several stately homes, some of which are intended to host an elegant resort with particular atmospheres. The grapes grown are mainly Sangiovese, the queen grape of Tuscany and Chianti. Then some so-called "international" varieties are cultivated including Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot with which a very fine wine is made, a Supertuscan called "Borgonero". The Borgo Scopeto cellar, renovated and expanded over the last few years, is equipped with the most modern winemaking technologies: there are 50 stainless steel tanks, while for refining/aging the wines there are 30 hectoliter Slavonian oak barrels and 300/500 liter French oak tonneaux. Each aging room is equipped with automatic environmental temperature control and a humidifier that keeps humidity constant throughout the year. The first bottle of Chianti Classico from Borgo Scopeto was produced in 1990 and seven years later the estate was purchased by Elisabetta Gnudi Angelini, who immediately began the recovery work on the Borgo, transforming it into one of the most fascinating and exclusive relais in Tuscany and into a of the most appreciated wineries. Among other things, Borgo Scopeto boasts one of the largest vineyards in Tuscany, which extends without interruption for 26 hectares, all of Sangiovese. In production, Chianti Classico and Riserva stand out, made with grapes coming only from the Misciano vineyard, a real cru. The production ends with an excellent Vin Santo, guardian of the winemaking tradition of this extraordinary corner of Tuscany.
