La Poderina

Poderina was founded in 1988 and belongs to the Tenute del Cerro galaxy, a group of agricultural companies that first belonged to the Agnelli family and, currently, to the Unipol insurance group. We are in the production area of Montalcino wines, i.e. in the province of Siena, in southern Tuscany, in a hilly area located in an excellent position and with particular geological characteristics, decidedly favorable to viticulture. Sangiovese Grosso, also known as Brunello, is the native vine of this area, with which the famous Brunello di Montalcino is produced; the winery also produces Rosso di Montalcino DOC and Moscadello. Extending over 37 hectares of vineyards, the Poderina winery is rightfully one of the most significant wineries in the large Ilcino area and over the years has been able to establish itself thanks to wines of great tradition, but also modernity. Brunello is a structured, tannic and therefore long-lived, elegant wine, among the most important reds of the entire Peninsula and the world. A wine rich in tannins and polyphenols which, if left to mature for the necessary time, is able to return a unique flavor profile that evolves and improves over time. In the vineyard, agricultural management is conventional, but fully respectful of the balance of the environment, nature and ecosystem and also in the cellar, thanks to a company philosophy that believes in innovation at the service of tradition, the wines of La Poderina are subjected to maturation in French oak barriques, as well as in large barrels. The results can be seen and are also highly appreciated by critics and the public: Brunello is produced in two versions: “Poggio Abate” Brunello di Montalcino Riserva DOCG and Brunello di Montalcino DOCG, wines that will excite you and get to know the side most authentic and evocative of the Montalcino area.
