La Rasina is a winery led by the Mantengoli family, now in its third generation, which produces exceptional Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino wines. Its foundation dates back to the 1970s, when Santi Mantegoli began its agricultural activity, which was then still based mainly on oil and wheat. Montalcino was not yet what it is today, that is, one of the world wine capitals, with over 250 producers and approximately 3,500 hectares of vineyards. At the time, the farms that produced wine could be counted on the fingers of one hand. The results, of course, then reached new heights, thanks to a massive influx of capital and men and women with a passion for wine and the ambition to carve a niche for themselves in this world. La Rasina can be considered one of the historic companies in the area and today it too has converted most of its production to wine as absolute excellence. It was Santi's son, Vasco Mantegoli, who began bottling the wine in 1988. Since 1997, the wine production has passed under the careful direction of Marco Mantengoli , also endowed with great passion and love for the family business. La Rasina is located in the north-east area of Montalcino, the area overlooking the Val d'Orcia Park. It was once a little-considered area, but over the years, both due to the changed climatic conditions and the growth and development of agronomic techniques, this area boasts a series of prestigious wineries, recognized throughout the world for their excellent quality of Brunello. Here we find a less hot climate compared to the southern side, but compensated by a lower altitude, around 350 meters and this significantly affects the ripening of the bunches, giving greater evening and night freshness which favors the fragrance and aromatic complexity, giving Brunello has a lot of elegance. The range of La Rasina wines consists of 3 different interpretations of Brunello di Montalcino, 2 versions of Rosso di Montalcino and an IGT Toscana Rosso wine, 100% Sangiovese . They are wines strongly representative of the terroir they express, one of the primary objectives of the Mantegoli family.
