The estate is located immersed in the Chianti Classico hills, between 250 and 350 meters above sea level, in the municipality of San Casciano In Val di Pesa. The history of this winery is recent even if it has truly "noble" origins: it all began in 2004 when Giacomo Tachis (1933-2016), one of the greatest oenologists in the world (among others, "father" of Sassicaia) decided to replant an old vineyard of 1.25 hectares in front of Podere La Villa, choosing Sangiovese and Merlot grapes. Paradoxically, Tachis' idea is to produce very high quality grapes and resell them. But in 2007, with the birth of his grandson Riccardo, his daughter Ilaria decided to celebrate the event by making wine with the first harvest from her father's vineyard. Hence the name of the wine: "Pargolo". Given the success of that initiative, in 2013 Ilaria Tachis and her husband Raffaele decided to expand the estate and purchase another 6 hectares of vineyards, transforming the surrounding farm into their main business. Now “Pargolo” has evolved and become a great Chianti Classico, worthy of this name, and “Giacomo” has been added, a great wine dedicated to his father. This area can be considered the "Conca D'Oro" of the northern Chianti area, where a sheltered microclimate protects and encourages the best grapes for Chianti Classico wines. The estate has a total of 10 hectares, which includes vineyards, olive groves, woods and a small lake. The 7 hectares of vineyards are cultivated with Sangiovese, Merlot, a small percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon and, more recently, a small part of white grape varieties to obtain a traditional Vinsanto. Attention to the environment is very present in the company, therefore sustainable agriculture techniques are adopted, even if there is not yet certification as organic farmers. A winemaking tradition that is perpetuated, in the name of tradition and history.
