Casisano

Podere Casisano is part of the "galaxy" of the Tommasi family, called Tommasi Family Estates. The historic Valpolicella property, founded way back in 1902, began an investment project in 1997 in prestigious Italian wineries, including Valpolicella Classica and the Doc Zone of Verona, Oltrepò Pavese in Lombardy, Montalcino, Maremma Tuscany, Manduria in Puglia and Paternoster in Basilicata. Casisano represents the flagship in Montalcino whose wines are born from more than 100 years of passion, experience and love for the wonderful Ilcinese terroir. The estate is located on a splendid natural terrace at 480 m above sea level and dominates the south-east area of Montalcino, it extends over 53 hectares of which 22 are planted with vineyards, among which the "Colombaiolo" cru vineyard stands out and then ancient olive trees, while the rest is occupied by centuries-old woods. Podere Casisano is a project aimed at valorising the most valuable denominations of Montalcino, therefore Brunello, Rosso di Montalcino, but also Moscadello di Montalcino DOC and Sant'Antimo DOC; after all, this represents the perfect union between the prestigious tradition of Montalcino and the experience in wine gained by the Tommasi family. Clearly the main grape variety is Sangiovese Grosso, an indispensable ingredient for the wines of the area, especially Brunello which is produced in rather old vineyards which, therefore, guarantee low production, but high quality. Even the diversity of the soils as well as the altitudes allow the different expressions of this vine in its best characteristics. Thanks to this terroir the wines are elegant and optimally combine structure, acidity and longevity. A truly interesting and highly prestigious production by Podere Casisano, already recognized by national and international awards and recognitions.
