Founded in 1974, Teruzzi is a winery that brings the past, present and future to life within itself. Born to the couple Enrico Teruzzi and Carmen Puthod, enthusiasts quickly learned and appreciated this name. At a certain point the paths diverged and the company was purchased by the prestigious Terre Moretti group (Tenuta La Badiola, Bellavista, Contadi Castaldi, Petra e Sella and Mosca). The idea of the winery is to always be at the forefront in technique and research for the production of wine of the best possible quality , but always with the need to enhance the centuries-old winemaking tradition of Tuscany, respecting its territory and enhancing what it is the true priceless resource of San Gimignano: the oldest native vine, Vernaccia. Local art , on the other hand, is the greatest inspiration for those who produce in those areas, given that since medieval times it has been rich in frescoes and tapestries representing wine, in all its forms. Precisely regarding tradition and respect for the land, it is also the increasingly clean and natural method that the cellar uses; no chemical fertilizers, fewer anti-parasitics and, every spring, a careful and detailed selection of every shoot present in the vineyard to ensure the health and best possible growth of each individual plant. The Teruzzi winery offers a large number of vineyard areas , approximately 94 hectares, which extend along the hills of the area, each of which is cultivated at great density, to ensure that the vines can produce few grapes , but concentrating all the resources and thus expressing the greatest potential and the best possible quality. The vast majority of the vineyards are Vernaccia, around 60 hectares, but we also find other white grape varieties , such as Trebbiano, Chardonnay and Sauvignon. As regards the production of red, however, the winery relies on Sangiovese, Petit Verdot, Colorino, Cabernet Sauvignon and Alicante grapes . Excellent traditional, local wines.
