Paternoster

The Paternoster winery was founded in 1925 by Anselmo Paternoster, pioneer of local viticulture and great admirer of Aglianico; we are in fact on the fertile slopes of the (extinct) Vulture volcano, precisely in Barile, in the heart of Basilicata. The history of the Paternoster winery has deep roots in the winemaking tradition of the area and began to take shape in the 70s/80s, when the son of the company's founder, Giuseppe Paternoster, decided to transform his passion for wine into a successful business. The Paternoster winery covers an area of approximately 20 hectares and produces mainly red wines, based on Aglianico, the main grape variety of the area, but also a white and a quality sparkling wine, based on Falanghina. This is thanks to the care of the vineyards which stand on volcanic soils and the ventilated local climate, with good temperature ranges which guarantee the best conditions for the growth of the grapes, all naturally aided by the advanced technology used in production. The wines are obtained from selected grapes and grown with sustainable and environmentally friendly methods: for this reason the winery has obtained organic certification for the management of its vineyards and the subsequent winemaking. Today the Paternoster winery has an excellent reputation on the national and international market, thanks to the quality of its products and its ability to innovate and continuously improve production. The winery collaborates with nationally renowned winemakers to create unique wines with great personality. The Paternoster winery is also committed to promoting the territory and wine culture of the region. It organizes guided tours to introduce visitors to the history and production of the company, as well as events and tastings to promote knowledge and appreciation of its wines and the fascinating territory of Basilicata.
