Piaggia is a winery that can boast an important history, which has also clearly marked the denomination of which it has become representative over time, i.e. Carmignano Doc. Piaggia's activity began in the Seventies thanks to Mauro Vannucci, who in that period he fell in love with this hilly area and wanted to lay the foundations for an adventure that would prove very profitable. To date, the winery is led by Mauro's daughter, Silvia, who undoubtedly inherited her father's love for this area. Growing up in the company, Silvia also made her own all those production methods that today allow her to reach very high quality levels. In fact, the production of this winery has seen a stable evolution over the years: from the first bottles that described extreme viticulture, Piaggia today is synonymous with very balanced bottles with an unusual elegance for the area. Here, for example, are Pietranera and Sasso, two excellent wines that are perfectly capable of illustrating the excellence achieved by this producer. The total surface area of this cellar covers approximately 25 hectares: a vast area that should not be misleading, as specialization is one of the words that guide the philosophy of this company. The entire area where production takes place is included within the Carmignano DOC denomination, in a part of Tuscany where references to the Renaissance tradition are evident. The triangle between Florence, Prato and Pistoia, in fact, is one of the strips of land where you can breathe history, just as you can experience first-hand the vocation for viticulture. In this Apennine area the vines can benefit from a notable temperature range, which helps the sugar concentration inside the grapes. Other particularly favorable conditions for the vines are given by the soils on which they are grown: they are of calcareous origin and highly draining, factors that help maintain an excellent balance of the plant, which can develop luxuriantly and produce very high quality fruit.
