The "La Staffa" winery is located in the splendid Marche region, an area with a great wine-growing vocation. The history of the winery is very recent and dates back to 2004, when the young winemaker Riccardo Baldi (born in 1990) decided to purchase an old abandoned farmhouse in a beautiful hilly area near Staffolo, in the province of Ancona. The farmhouse was surrounded by ancient vineyards and Baldi decided to renovate it and convert it into a cellar for the production of quality wines. The "La Staffa" winery takes its name from a particular agricultural tool, used to cultivate vineyards in the traditional way. The winery mainly produces white wines, using Verdicchio grapes, an indigenous variety from the Marche region now known throughout the world and which is characterized by its acidity and freshness. The wines produced by the "La Staffa" winery are all based on "Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi" except for a curious and interesting rosé made from local grapes. These wines are characterized by their personality and their aromatic complexity, which recalls the flavors of the surrounding area. Baldi's philosophy is to produce quality wines using traditional methods, but with an eye always attentive to innovation and environmental sustainability. For this reason the winery has just obtained Organic Certification. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected and fermentation occurs naturally, without the addition of selected yeasts. Today, the "La Staffa" winery represents an example of oenological excellence in the Marche. Thanks to his passion, his dedication and his attention to quality, Baldi managed to transform an old abandoned farmhouse into a highly successful winery, appreciated by critics and wine enthusiasts.
