Domaine Leflaive is a highly prestigious winery in Puligny-Montrachet, in Côte de Beaune, Burgundy. It is highly appreciated for its white wines (Chardonnay based) and for its vineyards which include 5 hectares in the Grand Cru area. The first historical traces of the cellar date back to 1717 by Claude Leflaive. In 1905, when Burgundy had not yet recovered from the effect of the phylloxera epidemic, which meant that vineyards were for sale at a very low price, Paul Leflaive had the foresight to purchase 25 hectares for his wine production whites. Today, clearly, they are of inestimable value. To get to the more recent history, in 1990, his daughter Anne-Claude Leflaive, and her cousin Olivier, took over the management of the business. In 1997, Anne-Claude made the historic decision to convert the farm to a biodynamic regime . The Leflaive brand is a clear symbol of the highest quality production: its Chardonnays are recognized and awarded all over the world. Domaine Leflaive's Premier Cru recently competed in the historic Judgment in Paris, ranking among the best white wines in the world.
