Tenuta di Biserno

This winery has illustrious birthplaces, but is recently established: we are talking about 1995, when the Marquis Lodovico Antinori, the one who invented and brought Ornellaia and Masseto to the top of world enology, discovered the potential of the lands of the Tenuta di Biserno. Initially he thought of merging the plots with those of the Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, only to then change his mind. In fact, he realizes that the nature and size of the estate require a separate winemaking project. We are very close to Bolgheri, in the Upper Maremma, and Lodovico Antinori immediately understood the high potential of this area for the so-called "Bordeaux cuts". The estate includes a single large vineyard, called Bellaria, which extends to the border with Bolgheri. This is where the Lodovico vineyard extends: six hectares of land now considered by all to be the most suitable in the area. Cabernet Franc reigns supreme in this area, to which are added small percentages of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot vines. The soils are reminiscent of those of Bordeaux; they are alluvial in nature, rich in limestone, calcium carbonate and pebbles and enjoy a microclimate refreshed by fresh and constant breezes. a second estate, Campo di Sasso, is also part of Biserno, adjacent to the first and made up of three vineyards, where this time it is the syrah that finds ideal growing conditions. In the cellar, we find the oenologist Michel Rolland, the consultant to whom many wineries owe their fame, including many of the largest Château in Bordeaux. There are only 4 labels produced: “Biserno”, “Lodovico”, “Insoglio del Cinghiale” and “Il Pino di Biserno”: four wines that express the highest oenological excellence at an international level.
