Sake

Sake is an alcoholic beverage obtained from the fermentation of rice and not, as many think, from its distillation.

In Japan, its country of origin, it is not pronounced with an accent, as we do in Europe, and there are many types, coming from rice qualities often grown only for its production.

It can be drunk hot or cold, depending on the season and context.

Curiosity: one of the traditional containers for tasting sake is the masu, a sort of cedar wood box. Buy it in the spirits section.
