The Cantina Valle Isarco has several particularities in the broad wine panorama of Alto Adige: first of all it is, without a doubt, the youngest cooperative winery in the region, founded in 1961 by 24 contributing members; this year it therefore celebrates 60 years of history and the birthday party is enlivened by the presence of a new consultant, the oenologist Riccardo Cotarella , a leading name in international oenology. Another interesting and characterizing peculiarity lies in the fact that production is practically aimed almost exclusively at white wines. 950 thousand bottles are produced, representing 14 varieties (10 white, 4 red), for a total of 28 labels . 98% of the Valle Isarco winery's production is dedicated to white wines, where Kerner stands out, flanked by Sylvaner, Grüner Veltliner, Gewürztraminer and Müller Thurgau. Today there are 135 members who cultivate 150 hectares of vineyards in 11 municipalities in the area. The Isarco Valley extends from the source of the Isarco river, to the Brenner pass to the mouth of the Adige, in Bolzano, and is one of the two main valleys of Alto Adige. Among its municipalities is Chiusa, where the winery has been based since 1961. The wines of Valle Isarco are made thanks to the work of cellar master Hannes Munter, who passionately follows and takes care of the entire process down to the smallest detail, aided by modern equipment, systems and technologies, respecting the environment and biodiversity. The production of Valle Isarco wines is distinguished by labels that present, in addition to the classic line of reds and whites, also the 4 special lines: Sabiona, Aristos, Isaras and Nectaris, all wines to be discovered, of great elegance, character and identity . Cotarella is a very important presence for the valorization of the cooperative's wine heritage. "There are several reasons for making very personal wines, declares the winemaker, vineyards, exposure, intrinsic quality of the vines, but above all the human approach.
