We are in the Mosel-Saar-Ruwer region, in Germany, which presents absolutely unique characteristics, not only for the elegance and delicacy of its wines, but also for the landscape that can be admired in these places, where the cultivation of Vine is made difficult and suggestive due to the geological conformation of the area, in fact the vineyards are among the steepest in all of Germany and certainly in the whole world. The Karthäuserhof winery boasts very ancient origins, dating back as far as 1335, when the monks of the Carthusian order started the production of the first wines in this splendid area. Subsequently, what had been a monastery dedicated to viticulture for over 500 years was purchased by the ancestors of the current owners, again in 1811, and since then Karthäuserhof has passed from father to son until the present day, with Albert Behler representing the seventh generation of one of the most representative winemaking families in the whole of Germany. The company is located in the town of Trier, one of the most renowned for the production of white wines, especially from Riesling grapes. The Karthäuserhof winery played a fundamental role in the birth of the VDP, an association that brings together the 200 best wineries in Germany and which has created its own classification of wines, aiming for absolute excellence. As mentioned, the range of Karthäuserhof wines places riesling as the absolute protagonist, enhancing it in the various versions foreseen by the production specifications and highlighting its peculiarities in the vinifications coming from the various crus of the area and of the property. It is clear that the big difference here is made by the land, unique, geologically disintegrated, extremely suited to viticulture, with a steep slope, with south-southwest exposures, which therefore offer the ideal conditions for the production of very high level wines. , appreciated above all for their freshness, legendary longevity and elegant minerality.
