Fattoria Zerbina

It all began in 1966 when Vincenzo Geminiani, immediately after purchasing the farm of the same name, decided to plant the first vineyards and start producing wine, immediately obtaining - based on the quality parameters of the time - numerous awards. In 1987 the qualitative turning point: Cristina Geminiani, niece of Vincenzo, current owner of the company and responsible for the agronomic and oenological management, decided to dive personally into this "adventure" with the aim of valorising Sangiovese and Albana .
For Sangiovese - first of all Pietramora - this commitment translated into just over two years in the planting of the first sapling vineyard with high planting density (a more than cutting-edge choice in wine-growing Italy at the time) and in experimenting with the first reliable clonal selections of this vine, both from Romagna and Tuscany.

The approach with Albana was equally innovative: Cristina Geminiani decided to try, with Scaccomatto , the path of noble rot on the plant and scalar harvesting in Sauternes style. A courageous choice, which required sacrifices and dedication, rewarded by considerable success from the first years of Scaccomatto. At the same time, the Marzieno project was developed, a wine born as a blend of Sangiovese/Cabernet Sauvignon which in the last six years has obtained a large number of awards.

Of longer standing, as also in the Sangiovese, is the presence of ancellotta , a traditional vine of the Romagna hills, often mistreated, on which the company has always focused a lot, so much so that it is considered, with a certain presumption, "the our petit verdot”.

Today Fattoria Zerbina represents an excellence of Romagna and Italian viticulture.
