The area of Montalcino where the Le Ragnaie winery operates is that of Passo del Lume Spento, which is the highest point of the entire area, approximately 600 meters above sea level. Riccardo and Jennifer Campinoti, since 2002 I have been offering an accommodation and agritourism business, in addition to the production of typical Montalcino wines; and in this context they have demonstrated that they have clear ideas on the production path: a profound respect for nature which led the owners to convert the company to organic farming; this has led their wines to take on a particular profile, but original at the same time, responding to the reality of the territory. The high altitude of the old vineyards of the Le Ragnaie estate implies late harvests compared to the norm in Montalcino, which are therefore carried out in the second half of October, consequently producing wines with a very elegant aromatic profile. The entire property is cultivated with Sangiovese and, given the diversity of the land that the winery has available, real crus, wines that are always different from each other are produced, but each bears witness to its own terroir of origin. With a total area of approximately 28 hectares, Le Ragnaie sees its vineyards divided into three distinct plots, all located along the slopes of the hill on which the company stands. The homonymous vineyard "Le Ragnaie" is the highest, located in the central part of the hill itself, and composed of vines ranging from five to forty years of age. Next we find the small "Petroso" vineyard, covering an area of approximately one hectare and located close to the town center of Montalcino. Lastly ""Castelnuovo dell'Abate"", located in the southern area, along the slope overlooking Mount Amiata. Le Ragnaie therefore offers 3 Brunello di Montalcino, a "base" and two "cru", in addition to the Rosso di Montalcino and an IGT, again based on Sangiovese: truly excellent labels, which speak of passion, commitment and enological quality that only the Ilcinesi lands are able to offer.
