The Cisa Asinari estates of the Marchesi di Grésy are part of Piedmontese winemaking history and their roots date back to the end of the 18th century, but it was Alberto di Grésy, in 1973, who founded the Marchesi di Grésy winery, as we know it today, to produce wine of quality on its own, starting from the grapes of Tenuta Cisa Asinari, already owned by the noble family; In fact, Alberto had the intuition, in unsuspecting times like the 70s, that there was enormous potential in the various family estates, as regards the production of excellent wine. In fact, let's not forget that, at the time, all the grapes produced were sold to cooperative wineries or larger wineries. The passion for these lands led Alberto to move permanently to Martinenga, the main estate, so as to be able to concentrate his efforts and passion in this splendid corner of the very popular municipality of Barbaresco. Regarding the Marquises of Gresy we talk about estates because in reality they are 4 distinct farms, even if the main one remains the one in the splendid vineyard amphitheater of Martinenga. The others are those of Monte Aribaldo in Treiso, La Serra in Cassine, and Monte Colombo, also adjacent to La Serra. The vineyard area is now around 45 hectares of vineyards, distributed across the various estates in the Langhe and Monferrato. As regards the grapes, the estate's offering is very broad: it ranges from whites coming from "international" grapes such as Chardonnay and Sauvignon, to the great classics of the Piedmontese tradition such as Dolcetto, Barbera and above all the workhorse, for prestige and excellence, namely Barbaresco, expressed in 3 different Crus. Sustainability is today an important point for the Marchesi di Grésy estate, with particular attention to both energy saving and the reduction of environmental impact and for this reason, for example, the barrel cellar was completely buried, obtaining, together with a reduction in land consumption, also ideal isolation conditions to always obtain optimal conditions for refinement. Great tradition, great wines.
