Today like yesterday, the Mazzei family carries on the legacy of its knowledge in Castello di Fonterutoli where it all began, one of the most important realities of Chianti Classico and Tuscany , with a full-blown history and a future yet to be written.

President of the Chianti Classico Consortium for twenty years and Cavaliere del Lavoro, Lapo Mazzei is responsible for the foresight of the important investments that have led Fonterutoli wines to establish themselves on the main world markets .
Under the guidance of Filippo Mazzei, the modernization work started by Lapo Mazzei finds further stimulus. T hanks to Francesco 's careful commercial organization work , the company can open up to new expansion and development projects .

In 2006 the company inaugurated the new cellar, designed by the architect Agnese Mazzei, the same one who signed the projects of other very important cellars in Chianti, including the Sassicaia barrel cellar; it is a winery with absolutely innovative and exceptional characteristics, to the point of being defined as the "most impressive in Chianti". Among the wines produced, the lion's share is those based on Sangiovese, pure or mixed with Merlot, Canaiolo and Colorina, and among these the "mix 36", a blend of 36 different biotypes of Sangiovese, is very interesting.
