This Domaine was founded in 1959 when the farms of the two Zind and Humbrecht families merged, and is located in the heart of Alsace, known throughout the world for its great white wines. Here, in the village of Turckheim, not far from the German border, is the winery, managed by Olivier Humbrecht. The important dates: in 1992 the company left the old Wintzenhiem cellar to move to the new one, in the middle of the Herrenweg vineyards, more practical and equipped with all the most modern equipment for winemaking; in 2003, the Domaine obtained biodynamic viticulture certification for all 40 hectares of its vineyards. A third date, no less important in the history of Zind Hubrecht is 1993, when "Chaptalisation", i.e. the addition of sugars, was almost completely abandoned in the winemaking process. Olivier's intuition is of fundamental importance: he understands that to obtain truly exceptional wines different "cuvées" must be created for each vineyard, whereas previously all the grapes of the same vine were mixed regardless of their origin. In the family's vineyards, spread across five municipalities in the Haut-Rhin, the two most representative vines of the region are grown almost exclusively: Riesling and Gewurztraminer , from which absolutely exceptional wines are produced. Longevity is the key to these truly original whites and light years away from our entirely Italian concept of white wine.
