The winery was founded in 1970 from an idea by Domenico Berni, known as Delfo, a passionate winemaker who decided to transform his pension into something more, bringing quality production logic to be able to put his love into every bottle produced, without yet idea of marketing his product. From generation to generation, the company is now carried on by Delfo's grandson, Gianni Pignattai, who began helping his grandfather in 1992, but was soon infected by all that passion and dedication, so much so that it became his job , dragging the whole family with them and putting their heart and soul into carrying on this noble tradition. At the time of purchase, Podere Pietroso had just over half a hectare of vineyard, while today it has grown to around five, divided into three different plots: one at the Podere, one in the direction of Sant'Antimo and one in Canalicchi; all enjoying excellent exposure and located about four hundred meters above the sea; however, the division of the land does not change the idea and the cultivation is always of just one grape, Sangiovese. Only manual work takes place in the vineyard, constantly keeping the plants under control and acting only when necessary with the consultation of an agronomist, strictly using products that respect nature and the surrounding environment. For several years the winery has also followed the principles of Integrated Pest Control for its crops. Great attention is also paid to the post-harvest process which takes place in recently renovated premises, with refinement aimed at broadening the profile and personality of the wines, to reflect that territorial tradition so dear to the family. Their products are inevitably only red in color and the few labels created are divided between Brunello and Rosso di Montalcino, very high quality bottles that are keen to tell their story, with elegant aromas, excellent structure and tannins.
