Château Cheval Noir

Château Cheval Noir is among the oldest companies in the Bordeaux region, it is located to be precise in Saint-Émilion, one of the most suitable territories in the area. Known since 1895, it was then purchased in 1937 by the Mähler-Besse family, already active for some time in the production and marketing of wines, thanks to many possessions in France and Spain and the company's activity rapidly expanded in Europe, in Russia and even in Canada. Currently the Château Cheval Noir estate extends over 6 hectares, in the Haut-Médoc between the Gironde and Dordogne rivers, in an area where the microclimate and particular terroir give the grapes a very high quality. The composition of the soil is varied: clayey, calcareous, sandy or gravelly depending on the location. The area is hilly, with perfect exposure of the vines to the sun and a temperate and mild climate for most of the year. Three typical vines thrive on this soil: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc which characterize the wines of the Bordeaux region. To these are added Malbec and Petit Verdot, used to a lesser extent. In 2008, a new cellar of the Château Cheval Noir company was inaugurated which uses the best technologies while maintaining traditional production methods. The company has adopted a type of agriculture based on respect for the environment and sustainability and currently produces five main labels including the famous Grand Cru Saint-Émilion. This wine is produced with a prevalence of Merlot (70%) and a minimal part of Cabernét Franc (30%) and is aged in traditional barrels. Another top wine of this winery is represented by the Château Cheval Noir Bordeaux Rouge, produced exclusively from Merlot grapes. World-class wines.
