Cantina del Nebbiolo

Those of the Nebbiolo winery, in Vezza d'Alba, have distant roots. Thus it was that, thanks to the patient and proactive work of the parish priest at the time, Don Augusto Vigolungo, a small cooperative winery was established at the beginning of the 1900s, with clear parish characteristics. It was a contribution to the growth of the area. After the tribulations of the 2 world wars and the threat of depopulation of the countryside, in 1959, a handful of winemakers, 23 to be precise, all from Roero, decided that to plan for the future it was necessary to return to the past. Thus, the Cantina del Nebbiolo was founded in Borbore di Vezza d'Alba, a cooperative structure that was supposed to resume the discussion begun in 1901 and try to materialize a positive project for these hills. Today, more than 50 years later, the Nebbiolo winery is still there, prominently located right on the Alba-Turin road in the Borbore di Vezza d'Alba area. There are 180 members and they produce 80% of their grapes on the Roero hills and 20% in other areas highly suited to fine viticulture, such as those of Barbaresco and Barolo, Dolcetto and Moscato. Today, the viticultural heritage managed by the members of the Cantina del Nebbiolo is approximately 300 hectares of specialized vineyards where traditional Piedmontese vines prevail: Nebbiolo, Barbera, Dolcetto, Freisa and Bonarda among the blacks, Arneis, Favorita, Nascetta and Moscato among the whites . Thus was born a rich range of Langa and Roero wines, capable of accompanying the table from the beginning to the end of meals, with a rigorous quality/price ratio and particular attention to quality and pleasantness: modern and elegant white wines and great local red wines, capable in any case of conquering the markets, in Italy as in the rest of the world.
