In 1971 Arnaldo Caprai was a successful textile entrepreneur and decided to realize his lifelong dream: producing wine. He thus purchased forty-five hectares in the surroundings of Montefalco and soon realized the great potential of an indigenous vine of the area, still little known to the general public, Sagrantino. It will be his son Marco, since 1988, who will involve great professionals in the sector, investing time and passion to make the Caprai company the flagship of his land.

The 1993 selection will prove Marco right: a great Sagrantino will be appreciated by wine lovers and will bring the Caprai winery to notable and deserved popularity. Today Caprai and Sagrantino di Montefalco are well-known and appreciated throughout the world, linked by a common history and a dream capable of transforming themselves into high-quality bottles.

The numerous recognitions obtained make the Caprai winery a true symbol of its land, an indispensable brand in the discovery of a vine capable of exciting like few others, that Sagrantino brought to very high quality levels in the space of a few years.
