Derbusco Cives

In the autumn of 2004, a group of friends decided to create a winery from scratch in the heart of Franciacorta, precisely in Erbusco, which is considered the "capital" of Franciacorta, both for being the epicenter of the region and, and above all, because on The morainic hills of this municipality are home to the best vineyards for the production of Franciacorta DOCG. And in fact the name Derbusco Cives translated from Latin means "citizens of Erbusco" and refers to a sixteenth-century writing that takes the name of the city, which in turn descends from the Lombard "der busche" which means forest. The choice of place is not random, in fact the ambition of the 5 young members is really important: the goal is to create the best Franciacorta in the world, as they declare. Therefore quality without compromise, which means producing a limited number of bottles and, at every stage of the production chain, adopting obsessive care to create a high quality product, with attention to every detail. Starting from the bottle itself, with a special shape, specifically designed to favor the natural maturation of the wines, and which unmistakably characterizes the Franciacorta Derbusco Cives sparkling wines. To achieve such a goal, the Derbusco Cives winery has decided to apply a rigid production methodology which involves only the use of free-run must, very long refinements on the yeasts, i.e. a minimum of 30 months, compared to the 18 foreseen by the DOCG regulations, no dosage of added sugars. Even the cellar has been taken care of down to the smallest details: the architectural style is modern with the central body emerging in the shape of a pentagon and the roof with a single sloping pitch made of exposed bleached wood. In the central body, on the mezzanine floor, there is the tasting room with large windows and a terrace with views of the vineyards. The working rooms of the cellar are located on the ground and basement floors. The labels created are truly very particular, unique, of great elegance and intensity and, certainly, fully reflect the objectives, passion and work behind their production.
