Massimago

Since the second half of the nineteenth century, this interesting cellar has belonged to the Cracco family, who have always been guardians of local traditions. Since 2003, Massimago has been a company managed by Camilla Rossi Chauvenet who has put her own very personal mark, creating the conditions for a truly extraordinary qualitative rebirth. The winery is located in Mezzane, in an area of Valpolicella that is a little more secluded and wild than others, in the heart of the valley of the same name, a terroir capable of creating an ideal microclimate for the cultivation of vines. It is interesting to know that the name Massimago derives from the Latin "maximum agium", which means "maximum benefit", which takes on a completely suggestive flavour, applied in a truly unique landscape context, where the ancient noble residence which serves as a cellar it is surrounded by a splendid park dotted with vineyards. The rows from the Massimago winery extend for 12 hectares on land so rich in clay, marl and limestone as to allow the native grapes of Valpolicella, namely Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, to express themselves at their best, giving rise to wines characterized by great power, but also fluid elegance. The wines of Massimago make the most of the best characteristics of this area, so suited to viticulture. The winery creates authentic oenological jewels such as Valpolicella Ripasso and Amarone, which however are accompanied by new proposals, decidedly innovative compared to local tradition, such as the rosé sparkling wine “Magò” based on Corvina: one of the few sparkling wines in the entire valley . Starting from the Valpolicella Classico, delicate and intriguing, up to the Amarone, intense, powerful and rich: the portfolio of labels proposed by Massimago is the result of the best tradition, combined with innovation, with a touch of uniqueness and class, typically feminine, so well expressed by the sensitivity of Camilla Rossi Chauvenet.
