Dirupi

The Dirupi Winery is a prestigious winery in Valtellina, known for its splendid mountains, but also for its vocation and production of excellent quality wine. The history of the winery is recent and dates back to 2003, when two wine-loving friends - Pierpaolo Di Franco and Davide Fasolini - decided to join their forces and their experience to create a small quality winery. The Dirupi winery is located in the hamlet of Tresivio, a few kilometers from Sondrio, and produces high quality wines using grapes from the surrounding vineyards. The vines grow on steep, terraced slopes, reaching an altitude of over 800 meters above sea level, in a harsh and windy climate that requires heroic viticulture, but gives the wines a great personality. The Dirupi winery produces red wines based on Nebbiolo grapes, locally known as Chiavennasca, among which Valtellina Superiore Inferno and Grumello stand out, as well as Sforzato. These wines are characterized by their aromatic complexity, their tannic structure and their elegance, and are highly appreciated by critics and wine enthusiasts all over the world. The philosophy of the Dirupi winery is to produce high quality wines while respecting the environment and the winemaking tradition of Valtellina. This translates into the recently obtained Organic Certification. The grapes are harvested by hand and carefully selected, and fermentation occurs naturally, without the addition of selected yeasts. The wines are then aged in oak barrels for several months or years, until they reach their full maturity. Today, the Dirupi winery is recognized as a small jewel of wine excellence and represents an example of quality in the panorama of the entire valley.
