Chateau de Malle

The Château de Malle is a splendid structure built in 1600; it is the residence of the counts Lur-Saluces and is considered a French national historic monument. The estate includes splendid Italian gardens and approximately 50 hectares of vineyards located between the municipalities of Preignac, Fargues and Toulenne, between the two prestigious designations of origin "Graves" and "Sauternes". It is certainly a leading name for the production of Sauternes wine and also Bordeaux wines. In 1950 Pierre de Bournazel took ownership of the castle, inheriting it from his uncle, and dedicated himself with sincere passion to renovating the entire property: he replanted all the vineyards destroyed by the frost, and over time he established himself as a leading figure in Bordeaux viticulture . After his death, his wife, the Countess of Bournazel, managed and developed the estate, making use of a team of talented technicians. She is currently supported by her 3 sons, Paul-Henry, Antoine and Charles. Château de Malle mainly produces Sauternes wines, known for the particular way in which they are born: their acidic sweetness can in fact be attributed to the action of a "noble" mold called Botrytis Cinerea, which accelerates the drying of the grapes. It should be known that this mold needs particular climatic conditions for it to develop positively, without degenerating into the harmful "grey" mold. Refined and bottled in the cellar according to an authentic family tradition, the wines of Chateau De Malle are elegant, persuasive and delicate wines, the result of complex and delicate work, carried forward over the centuries with skill and determination by the Bournazel generations.
