Muller Thurgau

It is one of the rare vines that do not exist in nature, but born from a botanical graft: until a few years ago it was believed that the cross was between Riesling and Sylvaner, recent studies on DNA have instead specified that it is a cross between Rieslings and Chasselas . This intersection was built at the end of the 1800s by the Swiss Mueller in the town of Thurgau. It is a fairly widespread grape, internationally, but finds great fortune above all in Germany, Switzerland and northern Italy, especially in Alto Adige and Trentino. The Müller Thurgau grape variety prefers hilly terrain, with an altitude between 500 and 700 meters above sea level and it is precisely for this reason that it has found its ideal place in the north. It is defined as a semi-aromatic vine due to its load of very intense floral and fruity aromas ranging from peach notes to the most fragrant white flowers. It does not boast great aging qualities, its fragrance should be appreciated when the wine is still young. It also boasts excellent performance even in the sparkling version, both the Charmat and Classic methods.
