'Calestaia' Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG Roccapesta 2018

Calestaia Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG is an intense and elegant red wine from the Roccapesta winery. It is obtained from the vinification of only Sangiovese grapes, the most widespread native red berried variety of central Italy. The bunches come exclusively from the plot that gives the wine its name and is located near Scansano. The vines, which are over forty years old, draw great nourishment from the soils rich in minerals. Thanks to the skilful work between the rows, the bunches grow healthy until they ripen. When this happens, only the best are selected for transport to the cellar. Spontaneous fermentation with maceration lasts for almost a month in large wooden vats. The subsequent refinement involves two long passages, the first of which lasts 2 years in large oak barrels. After a further rest of 2 years in the bottle, Calestaia Morellino di Scansano Riserva DOCG is marketed. Powerful, intense, deep wine, but with great balance, it lends itself to long evolutions of over 10 years.
