Description
Among the many red wines that boast the name Chianti, a particular mention must certainly be assigned to the Chianti Classico Riserva Il Poggiale DOCG , the award-winning workhorse of the famous Cantina Castellare di Castellina . The winery, located in Tuscany and more precisely in the heart of the Chianti Classico area, was founded fifty years ago from the union of 4 small farms and uses only biological processes for the production of its wines. Of its vineyards, worked on clayey schist and calcareous marl soil, the best is prepared for the true Chianti Cru: the Chianti Classico Riserva Il Poggiale DOCG . The blends used are 90% Sangiovese (in Castellare they call it Sangioveto), 5% Canaiolo and 5% Ciliegiolo. After the vinification in steel tanks, there is the refinement in barrique for a period ranging from 12 to 18 months and finally a further refinement in the bottle for a year. All to reach peaks of excellence, with a structured red that reaches its maximum gustatory yield around the fifth year of age.
