Baron Edmond De Rothschild

Baron Edmond De Rothschild
Information
Region: Bordeaux (France)

The long history of passion between the Rothschild family and wine began way back in 1853, the year in which James purchased the famous Château Mouton Brane in the Gironde department, in Pauillac. A century later, Edmond, one of the most innovative and intuitive descendants of the dynasty, purchased two new "Crus Bourgeois", namely Château Clarke and Château Malmaison and founded the Baron Edmond De Rothschild Wine Company. He deserves the credit for having been able to combine the long family tradition with the renovation of the systems and vines. Furthermore, driven by the desire to expand the Maison's activity, he decided to market his wines outside the Bordeaux area. Today the company has numerous branches spread throughout the world and is led by Benjamin, son of Baron Edmond. The most famous domaines of the Baron Edmond De Rothschild company are located in Pauillac, in the area west of Bordeaux. We are in the heart of the Médoc, one of the most renowned wine-growing areas in France, especially for the production of the symbolic wine of this part of the nation, Bordeaux. Among the varieties bred in the company's Crus are undoubtedly Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. The work in the vineyard is carried out in full respect of the natural rhythms and the ecosystem while each phase of the production process is followed with meticulous and attentive care. The result is excellent wines, located at the highest level in the French Grand Cru classification. The excellence of the wines of the Baron Edmond De Rothschild winery starts from the famous Château Lafite, a domaine in which labels were born that were considered a true "ambrosia nectar of the gods", as Cardinal Richelieu loved to define them. Today the line of wines from the famous winery includes some renowned examples such as the Pauillac 1er Cru "Château Lafite Rothschild", the first to obtain the Premier Cru classification in 1885, and products such as the Légend R, a Bordeaux suitable for the everyday table. A common characteristic of each label is that of faithfully representing the typical expression of one of the terroirs most suited to the production of extraordinary wines.
