Domaine Pierre Matrot

More than a maison, a wine legend: Domaine Pierre Matrot has belonged to the family of the same name for over four generations. Today the winery is guided very wisely by Thierre Matrot, who has demonstrated a strong propensity to intercept the evolving tastes of the market. This approach, combined with a deep-rooted respect for its land, has led the company to convert all the vineyards, covering approximately twenty hectares, to organic cultivation. The vines grown by the winery represent the best of Burgundy expression. In particular, the Domaine interprets Pinot Noir, a key grape variety of this region, which as per tradition is vinified in purity in three distinct denominations, which reach levels of excellence. In the cellar, the work of Domaine Pierre Matrot turns out to be very rigorous, aimed in particular at obtaining the best result from a qualitative point of view, without however affecting the primary sensations of the wine. The choice is to intervene wisely only when necessary and never overreach. Respect for the raw material, in fact, represents one of the pillars of this important French winery. For example, one aspect that characterizes the production philosophy of Domaine Pierre Matrot is to refine its production of white wines for a maximum period of three years in oak barriques. At the end of this period, the barrels are instead used to house the refinement of the red wines. This particular production approach allows the wines of the cellar to be uniquely characterized, which thus acquire an original stylistic feature, without however ever being predominant over the hints of the grapes themselves.
