A fascinating malt whiskey from an "anomalous" region in the panorama of world production, namely Taiwan. The whiskey is named after Yushan, the highest mountain in Taiwan. The mountain is known for its beauty and is also called Monte Giada. This spirit is produced at Nantou Distillery, the state distillery on the island, also famous for producing Omar Single Malt. This particular whiskey has been aged in ex bourbon casks and ex sherry casks. The maturation process has given the distillate a soft nature, with notes of sweetness, a lot of honey. As for the spices, I note some white pepper and ginger. A pinch of nutmeg. The finish is medium long and simply pleasant.
