The red Etna DOC Contrada Feudo di Mezzo Cottanera comes from the volcanic and alluvial soils of Etna which give this wine structure and aroma. The Cottanera winery cultivates its vineyards on the slopes of Etna, on lava soil, in a unique and evocative territory. The 65 hectares of vineyards of this prestigious company are located in Castiglione di Sicilia, in the province of Catania, 700 meters above sea level. Here the microclimate, with frequent temperature changes, allows for the ideal ripening of the grapes. The red Etna DOC Contrada Feudo di Mezzo Cottanera is produced exclusively with native Nerello Mascalese grapes. Cottanera takes care of all the stages of winemaking with artisanal passion. The harvest is done by hand, the maceration and fermentation are at controlled temperatures. The wine ages in French oak barrels and in glass bottles for 18 months. An excellent balanced, intense, tannic, but also very elegant and long-lasting red is obtained from this frontier viticulture.
