'L'Homme Mort' Chablis 1er Cru Vielles Vignes Domaine D'Henri 2019

This Chablis Premier Cru Fourchaume Vielles Vignes is made with "precious and ancient" vines, planted in 1937, in the fertile and very famous lands of Chablis, in French Burgundy. The Domaine D'Henri winery has been managed by the Laroche family since 1850 with passion and savoir faire. The philosophy of the maison is to intervene as little as possible in the cultivation of the vineyard, leaving nature free to express all its potential. Thus was born the Chablis Premier Cru Fourchaume Vielles Vignes, produced with 100% Chardonnay grapes from the Fourchaume plot, on the border with the Champagne region. Here the terroir is fine and balanced, with clayey and calcareous soil which gives the grapes minerality and freshness. The climate is continental and allows for a late harvest which allows the grapes to be harvested only when fully ripe. Renowned as one of the best wines of Chablis, the Premier Cru les Fourchaume appellation offers wines of rare intensity. The vines are exposed to the south-west, allowing the chardonnay grapes to reach excellent maturity. The wine undergoes partial aging (20%) in oak barrels. Powerful and virile wine, it offers a smoky bouquet, with notes of undergrowth. In the mouth it is streamlined and balanced, lengthened by a nice acidity to the finish, very noble and prolonged.
