Tenuta Fertuna

Tenuta Fertuna is the realization of the production dream of a group of wine professionals with over a century of experience. Different generations and many different professionals have given life to this project dedicated to excellence. The Fertuna estate is located in the heart of Maremma, between the hills and the Tyrrhenian Sea, in the central area of old Etruria; a part of it runs along the Aurelia Antica, thus bringing together, in an ideal way, the past, present and future of this area, from a winemaking point of view. the winery has been active since 1997 and its name derives from the union of the terms Fertility and Fortuna; it has an extension of 145 hectares; fifty of them are reserved for the production of wines, both white and red. The vines used are the native Sangiovese, but the so-called "international" ones are also present, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah, as regards the red grapes; Vermentino, Chardonnay and Sauvignon for the white berries. A particular characteristic of the company's production is the white vinification of Sangiovese, a typical red grape which is transformed into white wine. In the cellar, modernly equipped, tradition and construction simplicity are reflected. Nothing is left to chance and it is perfectly harmonized with the surrounding nature. A wastewater and rainwater recovery system has been adopted on the estate; waste is managed in a rational manner and recovered, where possible, to minimize environmental impact. The flagship of the production is undoubtedly the Messiio, a pure merlot of rare balance and powerful structure, a worthy heir to the great Super Tuscans of the area.
